Fishing for Fun
Nothing makes for a great summer like a little time spent on the water and being able to come home to fresh fried fish at the end of the day! As we realize that summertime is officially in the past tense, I would like to reminisce on a few of my favorite outdooradventures. Fishing is an activity I have enjoyed my entire life. Often times, people think of girls as too impatient to commit to fishing if the fish aren't hitting the bait. They think we get bored and are ready to leave or dive into the water and take a swim ourselves. While I will admit I have taken a quick swim on an occasional fishing trip, which may not help my case, I always find fishing relaxing and enjoyable whether I catch 0 or 20. While I enjoy a nice large mouth bass or a 25 + pound catfish as much as the next guy, I enjoy the general experience just as much. There's just something about being on the water or sitting on the bank, anticipating what may or may not come along. Whether I am fishing for perch, crappie, bass, or catfish, using jugs, trot lines, or the traditional hook and sinker, fishing is always a treat!

I am the girl that people often think these thing about. Sorry! LOL. I like to believe that I burn less when I'm in the water, although if I see a snake or a fish nibbles on my toes, all bets are off! Small boats are like the ferris wheel for me at a fair, I am unable to relax in them, because with one wrong rock we could be going overboard! So sadly I am that girl that gives the rest of the fishing loving ladies a bad name :( Enjoy it though!
ReplyDeleteJamie I love the whole fishing experience! This past spring I made my girlfriend come out fishing with me on the Osage River and put up with all my shenanigans. I'm not by any means a good fishermen, but I love sitting in a boat, with the sun shining on me. I love leaving my work phone at the cabin and just sitting with cutoff jeans and just roughing it. If I could do that everyday life would be perfect.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely Love fishing, it is a very serene experience for me and a way to feel closer to nature. I am the girl who bates her own hook, be it worms, crickets or store brought stinky bait. Let's not even get on the taste of fresh fried fish... Yeah now you got me hungry for some fried fish. Great blog!
ReplyDeleteOh, that sounds so relaxing. It may involve work but a break in the monotony would be a welcome treat! I would love to have a day fishing. I do need to make myself bait the hook. I would also like to learn to clean and prepare the fish. Who doesn't love fried fish?
